Dhaka (ChannelTT): The government has suspended all sorts of events round the country in Baisakh and Chittagong Hill Tracts region to prevent public outcry in the face of coronavirus.
The letter was issued in a notice signed by the cabinet deputy secretary Mohammad Abdul Wadood Chowdhury on Wednesday. The notice said, "In order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), it was requested in order to take necessary measures to suspend all the programs, activities (including lobes of the three hill districts) at the first of Baisakh 1427 or at this time."
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the directive by joining a video conference with the district administrators. At this time he called for the New Year to be celebrated in a digital way.
