Roberts lost his job to cut everyone's salary

International Desk (ChannelTT): Cricket Australia (CA) chief executive Kevin Roberts is set to lose his job due to coronavirus failure to cope with the board's financial situation, according to several Australian media reports. But before he could be removed from the board, he removed himself. Earl Eddings, CA chairman, confirmed Roberts' departure.

Roberts was criticized for his cost-cutting measures in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic. He indicated that 70 per cent of the employees of the board have been deducted from their salaries. Besides, the board decided to deduct 20 percent of the salaries of the officers. So the CA board was outraged at Roberts' actions. As a result, the CA board decided to remove him. But Roberts resigned on his own.

Roberts has been Cricket Australia's chief executive for 20 months. Roberts had a contract to be the CEO of CA until 2021. However, he had to leave before the end of the contract. The CA did not say whether it would receive the remaining 18 months' salary. Roberts has been replaced by CA's acting chief executive, Nick Hawkley, chief executive of the local organizing committee for the World Twenty20.
